I can't find my original details but I had melanoma and it was cut out by wider excision and I got the all clear 2 weeks ago.then last week I had an itch on my lower back and I appear to have a raised lesion there. I am going to the Dr tomorrow night. I hope it's not cancer but I sort of k ow it is. Feeling apprehensive now.
I too had a melanoma on my arm, which was removed by WLE last December. I also had an SLNB. Like you, I was told that there was no evidence of spread. However, that doesn’t stop you worrying, and what I found was that I would start panicking about any type of new mark, all of which have turned out to be quite harmless (like a skin reaction under my watch strap). In the past, common sense would have told me that it was exactly that, and I wouldn’t have worried, unless it failed to disappear. However, having had a melanoma, we’re on high alert and tend to think the worst of everything we see. It’s only now that I’m beginning to be able to leave a new mark for a few weeks, and usually it disappears on its own. Obviously, if it doesn’t, then I seek advice.
You’re seeing a doctor tomorrow night which is great, so you don’t have long to wait. I really hope that it isn’t anything suspicious. Easy to say from à fellow worrier, but try not to worry!
