Hi all,
I posted a while back as we were waiting for news as to whether my wife's mole was anything sinister. It turned out to be a nodular melanoma 0.07mm thickness and the Dermatologist believes they have cut it all out but scheduled an appointment for a WLE. This was 5 weeks ago now and we haven't heard anything back. What is the "normal" time to hear? Do they call or send a letter?
Thanks again
Hi Lee A
I'm sorry to read that the mole did turn out to be melanoma but from the thickness it appears that it's been caught really early.
I had an appointment to meet the surgeon who'd be doing my WLE about 6 weeks after my diagnosis but I can't remember how soon that appointment came through as it was 9 years ago now.
Your wife could give her SCNS a call to see if an appointment has been made yet.
Apologies, I meant she had the WLE 5 weeks ago but we haven't heard back since the operation. Just wondered if that's normal.
I had an appointment 2 weeks after my WLE to have the wound checked by the surgeon and to get my results.
Your wife should have been given an indication of the current wait times for results to come back from the pathology laboratories in your area of the country and a phone number to call if she hadn't heard.
If she wasn't given any timescale or phone number to call, then she could give her SCNS a call to see if the results are back yet and, if not, when they're expected.
I know how horrible waiting for results is so sending ((hugs)) to you both.
