Hi

my urgent gp referral was now 11 weeks ago, biopsy 6 weeks ago. I spoke to Pals this week as I’m pretty frustrated. Today received a call to say there’s nothing that can be done to speed things up. Now I’ve just received a phone call appointment for weds afternoon for results.
my biopsy site is 1.5cm and is itchy and lumpy, please can anybody advise if this is normal?
thanks

  • Hi

That's great to hear that you've got an appointment for your results next week. I do understand your frustration as I had a six week wait for my results.

From memory, my biopsy site was bigger than yours but it wasn't itchy or lumpy. When you go for your results, get whoever is giving them to you to take a look at it while you're there. In the meantime, if it gets worse do give NHS111 a call for advice.

Keeping everything crossed for a benign result next week.

  • Hi, I hope your did get good news at your appointment  yesterday and that the biopsy site is healing well. Sending a hug, Barbara (I finally have my f2f appointment in dermatology this Saturday!)

  • Hi

thanks for asking. Yes, the phone call I received was to tell me nothing sinister found, unbelievably. Initially I was elated but now overthinking, that both AI and dermatology were incorrect, what if the biopsy has just missed something. I have worried for nearly 3 months unnecessarily!
With perspective, I realise how lucky I am compared to others. So I really hope you have a similar outcome, and wish everyone on this site all the best

  • That's great news  and I hope you've had a little celebration Champagne

Please don't be hard on yourself, as it's natural to worry and expect the worst, and it'll probably take you a little bit of time to realise that you can finally relax.

    ((hugs))
