Has anyone had immunotherapy? Also interested if anyone was offered immunotherapy and turned it down. I know I will be facing this choice and a very “ helpful “ friend told me it’s worse than chemo! My sister in law is currently going through chemo and is really struggling.
I’m quite terrified as to what is ahead of me, WLE, SNB, skin graft and immunotherapy, im not sure I can cope with it all to be honest, so considering options.
My husband has been on immunotherapy since being diagnosed with metastatic melanoma in December. He has not had too much trouble with side effects and his first 3 monthly scan showed his cancer had already shrunk by over half .he will be continuing this treatment for up to 2 years .
I,m on immunotherapy, been on it for about 14 weeks, the first 3 treatments, where on the ward, with overnight stays , the drug im on is tebentafusp, the only reaction i get is a rash, which is controlled by creams. A MRI is booked for early August,
Hey pricilla.. I've just recently finished immunotherapy treatment and all in all it wasn't too bad obviously there was side affects but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting but I guess our bodies react differently I had the drug pembro every 6 weeks and the treatment lasted 30 minutes which wasn't too bad I think as long as you go into it with a positive mindset which isn't easy sometimes you'll be fine
I am being offered immunotherapy but the oncologist went through all the side effects which scared me and said at stage 2b it’s offered but he personally doesn’t recommend which left me so confused and scared.
if my lymph nodes are positive I can have the pill instead.
I hope you get the info needed x
Just about completed one year of fortnightly nivolumab which is working for my stage 4 melanoma (adrenal and brain mets). Got another year at least to go. I get very tired a couple of days after treatment but other side effects have been mild. My experience with immunotherapy has been amazing so far.
