Hi, I recently had a mole removed that is suspected to be melanoma. It’s been 10 days and I’m waiting for results. Would I be contacted quicker if it was bad news? I’ve seen some people have been contacted within a week as it was bad news. How long did your results take?
Hi 123454321 and a very warm welcome to the group
My results took 6 weeks to come back when I had a lesion removed, but that was 9 years ago. I had another removed 4 years ago and had the results back in 4 weeks.
How quickly they come back all depends on how busy the pathology labs are in your area of the country. You should have been given a timescale of when to expect them, along with a phone number to ring if you hadn't heard within that time frame, when you had your excision biopsy.
Results can take anywhere between 2-8 weeks to be reported on with most people getting theirs around the 4 week mark. It doesn't make any difference whether your mole is a melanoma or not as to how quickly you will hear.
