Enlarged Lymph Nodes at Collarbone

Morning,

I have only recently joined the forum and this is my first post.

ten years ago I had MM diagnosed in a mole on my right shoulder. This was removed and then was staged at 1b with a thickness of 0.6 mm. A wider excision was then carried out and no further treatment needed. I was taken care of by way of check ups for the next 6 years and all has been good.

About 6 weeks ago I felt an enlarged lymph node on my right side collarbone.  I have received a CT scan, Ultrasound and biopsy of the lymph nodes in question . The CT scan has now shown an area of concern under the skin in the right side of my abdomen. I still await the results of the lymph node biopsy which was now 2 weeks ago. Anxious does not cover how im  feeling .

Trying not to google but admittedly have done a fair bit of this and it reading is not pleasant as it would appear this would mean an advanced stage as the Melanoma would appear to have gone to a distant site as well as lymph nodes.

The comfort I have taken from this forum is the positive comments around treatment . I hope this to be the case for the future .

Best wishes x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I was diagnosed with melanoma 9 years ago and, like you had a wide local excision and was then monitored for 6 years. Fortunately I haven't had any recurrence yet but it's always at the back of my mind.

I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Latchbrook,

thank you so much for your kind reply .

im glad to hear that you have had no recurrence. This came like a bolt out of the blue to me after ten years.

like everyone else mentions , the anxiety is huge at present while I await a biopsy of the lymph nodes and further news on the suspected melanoma to my abdomen side wall.

I will add details to my profile as you have kindly suggested.

thank you again and best wishes x
