Hi I had surgery to remove a suspicious mole on my big toe (I am expecting melanoma as there was a growth come from it) just over a week ago. I look like a patchwork quilt as they has to stitch through my toe nail to seal the incision. I am non weight bearing and on crutches. I am in quite a bit of pain from the position of the stitches and finding difficult to get around. Just wish I don’t have to wait much long to find out what they are doing next? How long did it take for people to get their biopsy results please?
Hi You got this and a very warm welcome to the group which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
When you had your excision biopsy the nurse attending should have given you an idea of how long results are taking to come back in your area of the country, along with a phone to call if you haven't heard within this time, so it's very disappointing that you weren't given this.
The first time I had a mole removed, nearly 9 years ago now, my results took 6 weeks to come back as there was a backlog. The second time the results were back after 4 weeks.
Time to get results back can fluctuate wildly with the quickest being about 2 weeks and the longest around 8 weeks. The average is about 4 weeks.
I'll be keeping everything crossed that your pain quickly eases and you don't have too much longer to wait for your results.
Anne
