My 51 year old husband was first diagnosed with melanoma 5 1/2 years ago when we found a mole on his scalp.  He had a sentinel node biopsy at that time and it came back clear.  6 months later it metastasized to 3 lymph nodes.  He was on keytruda for 18 months and lymph nodes removed.  He has been disease free since 3/2022.  Now his 6 moth CAT scan showed brain metastasis and the MRI shows 15 tumors the largest one 16mm. He will start immunotherapy tomorrow us sing Opdivo and Yervoy.  Anybody have any results with using this for 15 tumors?? I see it works well with a few tumors.... but I cant find any information on well it works with this many tumors.   Anyone have a similar situation?

  • Hi Mandy F, What a worrying time for you, I hope someone will respond to give you the information that you are seeking, for some kind of reassurance Pray tone2 especially after the joy of being disease free since 2022. I was diagnosed with Melanoma stage 3 in December 2024, that metastasised to my Lymph nodes, after surgery removal, I have been offered the Keytruda immunotherapy, that your husband received, how was it? And did he have any side effects? Positive healing to your husband. Squinky aka Tracy x

  • He responded really well, he was a little weak and tired but never missed a beat.  We moved my daughter into a new house as well as married her off.  He continued to travel for work and vacation through the entire treatment.

He did....loose his thyroid function early on followed by his adrenal glands.  He now is completly dependent on cortizone to replace his cortisol.  Unfortunately we were in Mexico and he was so week and so sick and we had no idea what was happening but when we got back we went straight to oncologist and they did labs and he had almost no cortisol.  We got LUCKY he was literally within 24 hours of dyeing.  But now as long as he takes cortisone he is fine.

It worked great and now we move on to the next.  Reach out if you have any questions, it's tough to navigate through melanoma.  So many questions and so few answers.  But..... thankful that we now have immunotherapy to give us all hope for our loved ones.

    Take Care and Have Hope!
