After receivng the all clear from my WLE and SLNB 2 years ago after a melanoma on my scalp, lesions have developed on my brain. They think this is secondary cancer as mri has shown no other area of concern. There is also a nodule on my lung. Just looking for any thoughts, words, experience, guidance etc
Hi Romy60,
So sorry to hear you're going through this. I'd been having immunotherapy for stage 4 melanoma for 18 months when I suddenly became really unwell in July of this year and scans showed multiple tumors on my brain. It was a very dark time as the consultant pretty much thought I wouldn't be here at Christmas and said she wanted to try whole brain radiotherapy as a last resort.
Thankfully for me this has worked and the tumors are shrinking and it's Christmas and I'm here!!! They originally put me on steroids for the swelling which I've been off since September and then I restarted the immunotherapy which seems to be working in conjunction with the radiotherapy.
I also originally had two tumors on my lung but I just got my PET scan results the other day that show they are no longer malignant.
There is another treatment called cyber knife which targets specific tumors, I couldn't have this as I had too many but that might be something you could mention.
I hope they can start you on some treatment soon, although difficult at this time of year of course. Sending you lots of positive thoughts.
