Hi, has anyone ever heard of Encorafenib and Binimetinib used as targeted chemo to treat advanced melanoma causing secondary bone cancer to develop?
If you’ve ever heard of it, had any experiences, links to any studies or anyone I could ask - please let me know.
I cannot find any evidence of this treatment causing bone secondaries to develop in the spine/ pelvis.

I’m asking because I lost my dad to melanoma almost six months ago due to extreme negligence by oncology. They notified us of a ct scan in July 2023 which showed new bone secondaries in his spine, told us not to worry as it was likely caused by his treatment. I can find no evidence to support their statement. My dad became paralysed in February 2024 through the cancer in his spine and was refused any new treatments as he was too far gone.

  • Hi

I'm very sorry to read that you have recently lost your dad and I know what a difficult time this will be for you.

I don't have any personal experience of having Encorafenib and Binimetinib but I've done a search in the group and found these previous posts from people talking about that drug combination.

You could have a look through them and see if anyone mentions bone secondaries. If you can't find what you're looking for you could also post your question in the ask a nurse section of the online community.

    ((hugs))
