Hi all. Its great to read so many good stories about treatment. Adds to positivity. Had first double dose last Wed. Main side effect is fatigue, but also very bad wheezy cough that I'd had and thought I'd got rid of. Back with a vengeance! Oncology team not too concerned but said to see GP to be on safe side. I'm just bit concerned that chest xray will show i have pneumonia, which I had a few years ago. I really don't want treatment to halt Just wanted to ask if anyone has been in same boat? Thanks for reading
I'll keep everything crossed that you don't have pneumonia and I can understand your concern.
I've not had this treatment but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you for the reply. Yes, I will add something to my profile. Was going to wait until after 2nd treatment but will update later
Hi Natasha,
I was diagnosed with pneumonia and given a week's worth of antibiotics 2 weeks after my 2nd dose of Ipi/Nivo. I felt very poorly. Nevertheless, it cleared up and that was the end of that story. All done! Unfortunately, I also had other problems at the same time as the pneumonia (which is really just a scary word for chest infection in my books). They were unrelated to the pneumonia and were detected by blood test. I did have to pause the treatment for a number of weeks because of these problems but then I started back on it and it is continuing now.
It's great that you're seeing a GP about the cough. I found it was very important to ring either the Cancer Nurse Specialist or the Acute Oncology Service if anything changed or any new symptom arrived. I had to get used to ringing even for stuff I'd never go to a GP for, e.g. a bit of a temperature or a headache. It was always the right thing to do. Side effects of Ipi/Nivo - it's best to nip them in the bud. I hope you get the support you need.
Warm wishes,
Dots
