Hello everyone, my husband had a punch biopsy on a rare lesion on his foot two weeks ago. The consultant has said she is sure it's an acral melanoma and that they will need to make a treatment plan for him, but that can't be decided until the biopsy is back. The wait is absolutely unbearable, how long do biopsy take in the lab? He had his biopsy within 24hours of seeing the consultant so it moved pretty quickly, however we're left in the lurch now, waiting on their weekly meeting. Can anyone share any experiences?
Thankyou
Hi Bex, I'm newly diagnosed too with skin cancer melanoma on my face (now removed). I am awaiting biopsy results from a subsequent lymph node biopsy 2 days ago. I have got a long wait for my results which isn't great..(5 weeks), but mine has to be sent away and reviewed by a particular specialist, maybe your husband's doesn't and should therefore be sooner. I find best to just try and keep busy to at least have some time when it's not on your mind. Also consultant's secretaries can be a godsend, mine is great, really helpful. Perhaps find out her/his name and see if you can get an update. I always feel a little more in control if I have information and know what's happening.
I also think at least Covid's over, so that won't add to your or my wait for answers. Good luck to you and your husband, I hope you get good news soon.
