After 7 weeks wait have received an appointment letter with dermatology nurse ( not consultant?) in 3 weeks time to get results of excision biopsy.

Seems a long time with no hint as to good or bad.

Is this normal?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry that you've had to go through the agony of waiting for results. I know how hard that can be.

The length of time that it takes to get results back depends largely on how busy the pathology laboratories in your area of the country are. When I was diagnosed it took 6 weeks between having the excision biopsy and getting my results. Generally it's between 2-6 weeks with an average of 4 weeks.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you

  • Hi,

    Yes.

Melanoma Insitu( after nine weeks wait).

Wlde excision scheduled for 6th September

Hopefully discharge soon after with regular  self mole inspection.

Looks like I dodged a bullet so to speak.

My relationship with the Sun changes forever..

Interestingly the leaflet they gave me suggests Sunburn in my teens may be responsible!.

    That was 50 years ago!

  • Sorry to hear that, seems like you waited such a long time for the results. Good luck on with your WE.
