Hi all,

Had a follow up appointment with plastic surgery unit after WLE and SLNB scheduled for 29th June (about 8 weeks after surgery). It's been bumped forward to this Wednesday. Is it likely just to be a check up on healing etc.? Or results from biopsy? Just want to know if I could do with someone going with me or not as she'd have to get time off from work. After initial lesion removal I went to appointment on my own thinking it would be routine checkup only to be told it was melanoma stage 2, full body exam etc. Bit of a biggie on your own. Any ideas from past experience?

Thanks

  • Hi

When I had a follow-up appointment with the plastic surgeon after my WLE and SLNB it was to both check the wound sites and to give me my results.

If the letter you've had rearranging your appointment doesn't specify what it's for you could always give your SCNS a call and ask her whether you'll be getting your results at this appointment.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

  • I would definitely take someone with you. My appointment was telephone one and I had to get cancer nurse to email me a summary of everything I was told. It’s a lot to take in. Good luck with your appointment. Pots

  • Thanks. My wife is coming with me. Fingers very much crossed!

  • Thanks for replying.. My wife is coming with me so that should help. Hope you're doing ok.

  • And fingers crossed for you too!

  • SLNB came back clear. So no more treatment just now. Just monitoring for 5 years. Big sigh. So much love to all NHS staff who've helped me over the last 6 months. Hoping to see them only every 3 months from now on.

  •  Brilliant news. So happy for you. Pots

  • That's great to read . I hope you're having a little celebration!
