Hi Nanny Stan
My partner had 10 weeks on Dab and Tram, then got pneumonia and influenza and was hospitalised at Christmas, he had his dose reduced 3 weeks ago, and ended up in A and E and hospital again on 13/14 Feb with a urine infection.
He is currently back at home feeling very unwell, swollen knees, exhaustion and aching arms, with oral antibiotics and morphine. Not sure whether these are any similar symptoms?
Dont know whether this treatment just doesnt suit him, or whether its a question of getting the right dosage?
Marggy
Hello NannyStan, I’m on some drugs similar to the ones you are on (encorafenib and binimetinib) they have sickness /nausea as one of the many possible side effects. I haven’t suffered with sickness since I’ve started them but prior to the drugs being ready for me I was. My team prescribed an antisickness medication, and then a different one when the first one didn’t work, so I’d like to urge you to contact your team to get some help.
I was advised to make sure I drank between 1.5 litres and 2.5 litres of water a day to ensure I didn’t get dehydrated and as I was having trouble eating to have what ever I fancied as often as I liked. I didn’t fancy anything but I started with soups and hot milky drinks, and soft meals like shepherds pie or fish with mash very small helpings at first so that I felt I could finish what was given to me rather than leaving lots and feeling a failure.
You don’t have to wait for the next dose review to contact your team, your specialist nurses probably want to know ASAP of anything that bothering your partner or being of concern to you.
Take care KT
Hi KT, it is my partner who is having treatment and he has now been prescribed new anti sickness drugs, I do agree with you with regards to drinking more fluids as I don’t think he has been but he is trying different drinks too as his sickness puts him off drinking things he normally would. Thank you so much for your reply.
