This is Dereks daughter Julie.
Dad passed away at home on 19th of this month.
I wanted to let you know that this forum gave him great comfort in the past few years and it was a place where he could speak honestly when he felt that he couldn't at home.
Dad is being cremated on 9th May but we are going to hold a memorial for family and friends once this madness is all over.
Take care.

Thank you for letting us all know. I am so sorry for all of you to have lost such a lovely man as Darlo was. He always offered encouragement and support here. I am gutted to hear he has passed. I have been thinking of him and thought it may be the case.
All in his final PM to me he signed it (so thinking it was aimed at all of the forum) I will pass it on...
Take care all. god bless
All my love to all his family and friends xx
Hello Julie,
Im heartbroken to hear the news about your lovely dad. As Gina says he was always a source of encouragement to all on here but he gave us comfort as well, everything was OK when Darlo was around and he gave us so much laughter. He will be missed so much.
My condolences to you all
I will raise a glass to Darlo tonight - my little match day buddy
Take care
I am so sorry, was only thinking of him yesterday its been a while since we had heard from him.
He will be greatly missed, he did make me laugh, and his absent will be a light gone out, but he will shine bright, where ever that might be.
Thinking of you all at this time.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was such a loving and caring man. You must be very proud to have had him as a father. I was proud to call him my friend and I will miss him very much xx
Hi Julie
just wanted to pass on my condolences
I did not know your father, but his post always lifted my spirits. He was one of the people who inspired me to join this site.
He was a kind and uplifting person and I thank him for the encouragement he gave all of us.
He will be greatly missed.
He may have passed but his spirit will continue to live.
So very sorry to hear of his passing.
Your Dad was always very generous in his 'liking' of everyone's posts and his supporting of the newbies on here. His references to his 'ornacologist' always made me smile.
Please take some comfort that he was a very valued member of this Group and will be much missed.

I am so very sorry to hear about your dad. He was one of the first people to send me a kind and positive message when I first posted on this site after my mum was diagnosed. I just wanted you to know that his words really made a difference to both me and my mum.
My thoughts are with you.
Nicola
