63 years old.

Just starting on another journey but with cancer now.

I'm told the only option for me is possibly anti fibrotics. Apparently ipf, ground glass and honeycombing will misbehave if chemo or radiotherapy are used. Apparently I'm a complicated case.

Not what I expected tbh.

It's early days and not staged yet. No idea if there is spread but I guess I'll find out more at the mdt meeting.

I've been furiously researching and gathering info but alas my wife hadn't given it much thought as I push on through the pain and act normally as far as possible. She thinks I'm going to get over this and manage this like RA. She was shocked by the pulmonologists discussion. Hit her harder than me.

I've been encouraging her to keep in touch with friends and go out eves. Her life must continue when I decline.

Otherwise, I'm a very happy chappie!

  • Hello , and a warm welcome to the Lung forum although I'm very sorry indeed you need to join. I'm Derek, one of the community champions trying to help out on here.

My own lung cancer experience (see my bio by clicking on my excavator avatar) involved much more "standard" non small cell adenocarcinoma and I was lucky to be treated by surgery and chemo several years ago. I must admit your case does indeed sound very "complex".

Come back to us after your MDT meeting has taken place and you're given some more information on exactly what you're looking at with suggested treatments. Hopefully then we'll be able to comment more constructively. In the meantime my reply here will push your post back to the top of the list so others will see it more easily to be able to reply.

    All the best for now,

    Derek.
