Hi there
Hello, welcome to the club nobody chooses to join.
I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I have a friend who, like yourself, was diagnosed with incurable small cell lung cancer, surgery was out of the question because of the size of the tumour. Anyway, that was two and a half year's ago, she had a course of chemotherapy and tolerated it well, she is still on immunotherapy having had the go ahead to continue it following her two year course because she is doing so well.
I was diagnosed with lung cancer in the same month as my friend (August 2023), but thankfully it was stage1 non-small cancer, my treatment was radiotherapy only (SABR).
You will be "tired and emotional", it is normal to feel like that. When I was having my radiotherapy I was sleeping eight hours at night and another hour and a half during the day. You will have up and down days, but eventually things will seem brighter. Treatments today are amazing and the word "cancer" is no longer a scary word. Get plenty of rest, it will help your body and immune system to be strong. Staying positive is the main thing and try not to dwell on your diagnosis. This is my second time of having cancer, the first time was breast cancer stage2, but that was 36 year's ago. I just think that sometimes life throws us a curve ball so we have to deal with it as best we can.
All of us on here have either been through or are going through cancer, so members can give advice on any questions you may have, or, just to have a natter.
Best wishes
Ann
Thank you so much for you're reply it makes so much sense and gives me hope!
I am now 75years old male and have had non small cell lung cancer 3times and esofigal cancer once, but hey I'm still here yes I do agree it's on your mind all the time ,but I look at it like this, you got it so what they going to do about it, worrying about it's Not going to fix it is it so don't worry If Not it instead as I am a strong believer in keeping a positive attitude does help , your mind and body are powerful things if you let them get the better of you ,you got no chance ,yes I'm tired and fall asleep quite often but ,I am still here and I hope this helps
