Hello, sorry to bother you all.First of all I wishing everyone is long and happy life.Just to cut the story short,my husband in September had his infection did his xray found sum lumps on right lungs4.8 cm.Than he was sent to CT,Contrast Ct,and Pet scan.No one offered him an antibiotic only in October when he couldn’t cope GP prescribed him Amoxicillin,by taken that he was feeling good.Than when we went to have his biopsy radiographer declined to check as she said it shrinks more.Basically from 4.8 cm to 3.5 cm,within 10 days maybe.
He was booked for his surgery next week,as Consultant think it’s quite bright colour and need to be removed, they refused to do another scan.We went to do contrast scan yesterday again privately and results just back it’s reduced more 2.5 cm.
I don’t understand nothing anymore.Someone had similar situation?
i try to think logically let’s think that cancer is like a wallnut, and when it’s an infection or inflammation,it goes all around,by taken antibiotics can the swelling reduce but cancer still there?
Or it’s just an infection and takes time to heal?
On his letter it says T2 which is cancer, but why it shrinks?
On his Pet it’s bright pink colour but when it’s an infection its also pink.
On his Pet scan, when they inserted glucose, the cells acting moderate same as with inflammation, infection or cancer.
Why biopsy not been taken? Why he need to remove his 30% of his lung?
I am tired every day with this stress. Can someone help with advice, any advice is welcome.
Of course we want that to be removed but if it’s no cancer than what shall we do.
Hi Lesya8bcc66 this is a very unusual situation. Cancer cannot shrink without medical intervention. The only people to give you answers to this is the medical team.
Hello, medical team don’t know themselves.Spoken with the Consultant today, they won’t do his surgery, they will do biopsy instead. They said it maybe infection,TB,or cancer. And I was right to double check with the private scan one more time. And cancer don’t shrink.Otherwise next week they just cut it off part of his lung. Its always wise to ask second opinion.
Thank you
I believe that Hospitals need to be reassured,at least by 90% that it’s cancer, only after proceed with the treatment.Sometimes they rush, which is also no good, sometimes they take very slow. But it’s human life inside their hands. And I know that it’s Blessing job to be a doctors. But we can also help them by asking questions,by double check,as they have million patients, and sometimes mistakes can happen.
I know my husband don’t have cancer,he had very bad cold.During Covid people lungs also was effected, and MRI showed scars all over.So it’s pneumonia, and he is recovering. If I wasnt pushy enough, part of his lung would go next week. Please always ask questions as many as you can.Read some articles, self educate yourself, even some of the information is crap, just filter the information and ask questions.Doctors just human beings like us,do we have right for mistakes, yes we do,same as with the Doctors.
Wishing everyone is happy life and speedy recovery.
Sorry, I don't have any advice, but I have something similar going on. Had a wedge taken out the left lung a year ago, nsclc. My recent ct scan showed a spiculated nodule on my right lung so was sent for a pet scan. Although it lit up, it is smaller than it was on the ct scan. The doc mentioned for example, that rheumatoid arthritis nodules would light up doesn't always mean cancer, which doesn't shrink without treatment. So they were going to do a biopsy but have decided to wait. I have been given antibiotics and a Ct scan begining of December. I also have stage 3 COPD and have had breathing tests and they can still operate, take out a wedge if it is malignant, same as last year. Incidentally my copd has improved since my op, I had radiotherapy for BC 33 years ago, when I had the surgery last year, the surgeon also did a partial decortication of my lung as there was so many adhesions caused by the radiotherapy from years ago! Just to add, I noticed I had a bit of a dry cough which has disappeared after the course of antbiotics. I do think you are right to question the treatment, I wish you both the best of luck, keep us posted.x
Hello, thank you’re for your reply.Wishing you a good health and long life.He had his preassesment on Friday, and nothing has changed on the system yet, nurse told him that he is having surgery on Monday morning as planned. He will be going there to see them face to face ,as it’s hard to reach them via phone or email and book for biopsy. This miscommunication within NHS staff it’s ridiculous.More or less I am 100%sure that he does not have a cancer. All our family was effected by stress and fears,I couldn’t think straight, and stress can kill. From beginning of his journey it was all strange. But again we don’t want to complain,as sometimes they need to rash to save life’s.In his case they thought better taken out.But it’s not fair to taken out without a reason.I will update with his biopsy results,I hope it’s not cancer. When we have some spots even in our face, takes time to heal, especially if it puss inside, sometimes takes 2-3 weeks. But his one is inside the lung he was coughed blood, and high temperature,no antibiotics been given,at the beginning of,so it went to pneumonia (bronchitis)maybe,he was coughing at nights of course it’s some ruptured there and got inflamed.Again we took antibiotics from the Private Doctor, only when his course has finished,we went to see his GP to top up.He been in the Hospital, they saw on xray that it’s something wrong there, why they don’t prescribe antibiotics that time and started investigating cancer without treatment.
Many mistakes been made and some people just blindly believing to the doctors, they can be wrong because luck of attention.
Thank you
Hi Lesya8bcc66 how did it go yesterday? Did your husband have his surgery?
Hello, they cancelled his surgery. As they are not sure if it cancer or infection. And they will make him a bronchoscopy instead. Is it straight forward procedure?Or it’s complicated? And which one is better needle ones or the one through the mouth?Thank you
I phoned them yesterday,as they should book him for biopsy, they supposed to call us on Thursday and Friday to book, but nobody did.So I phoned them myself, and they telling me,that my husband is in the theatre, doing his procedure.I told them, hello,he is at work, surgery was canceled. And the lady over the phone are you sure.. ?As I have explained luck of attention can cause chaos.Luck of communication also can cause misdiagnose.I am at home with high blood pressure.I have enough with this one month stress. My husband can sort himself,by going to his appointment and biopsy procedure. All I can do just pray for him to God.
Stress can kill faster than cancer itself. And I can’t even think of it anymore.
Hope you understand
Hello Lesya8bcc66 - my goodness, what you describe, that the staff thought your husband was in theatre when he was actually at work is amazing! This all really does sound very difficult for you. But you ask about bronchoscopy or CT guided biopsy. I have had both. I would always prefer a CT guided biopsy and in fact if every I am offered another bronchoscopy again I will refuse it! I hope your husband will get the best care from now on.
Thank you for advice. Why you will refuse Bronchoscopy?they said it’s less invasive and patient will be asleep. Is it dangerous procedure you mean?
