Hubby had first chemo carb/premex & 4th zometa. So far so good. He was all done by 1pm took less than 3 hrs inc the zometa & flushes. He ate & drunk ok whilst having treatment.

Not sure what to expect....just hoping things arent too bad re side affects.

We're having dinner shortly, if anything both tired as not really slept in days over worry of starting chemo. I also had my gynae results no malignancy, but need a hysterectomy. I said not possible at minute, as too much going on...

How did things go with hubby? I was thinking about you today. Hope all went ok with trials doc x

  • Hi  hoping your husband is feeling ok today. Make sure he takes all of the meds he was given, even if he doesn’t feel sick, it’s best to stop it before it starts!
Good news from gynae but yes I can understand you putting off the surgery. You have such a lot on your plate at the moment. X

  • He seems fine, eating like a hungry horse. Only feeling a bit tired, but slept well. His legs feel a bit weak, but he was like that with immunotherapy, it doesnt help having had a stroke & as right leg weakness.

Not felt nauseas for the first time in weeks. Hes taking all meds as prescribed.

So confusing as I'm tired & trying to make sure hes taking them all, as well as his pre existing meds! So my brain fogs awful, to the point I'm literally writing everything down.

    But so far so good....

  • Ok Doc rang yesterday had discussion re trial originally said the trial would not start until mid November which is too long to wait without treatment so arranged to see him in three weeks on the 17th to discuss not going on the the trial so rang off then but 10 mins later rang back to say that the trial is in fact starting mid October so wil discuss when he sees him he is doing okay we have bought 2 air purifiers which seem to be helping his cough glad your problems are not malignant on your husband’s chemo make sure his red blood cells do not drop and make sure he takes his folic acid keep well both of you

  • So u dont know treatment type yet? Hope all goes well & glad to hear the air purifierscare helping the cough

So far so good fingers crossed, no nausea, just fatigued. No cough, just a runny nose which hes had months.Funnily enough his joint pain esp knees, as really eased.

He takes folic daily & Adcal D3.

Finishes steroids & an extra anti sickness called ondansetron on Monday..

He as his normal anti sickness  Metoclopramide however only found out last week to take them before feeling nauseas, instead of waiting to feel nauseas. Totally confused with it all TBH.

How do I check red blood count?

It really is like living a different life now. We had the immnotherapy routine & was just getting used to that & bang all changed. The tablet taking etc is so confusing. I used to be so organised with meds & life, but now its brain fog daily.

  • Regarding the red blood count the only way to know if he is anemic is if he starts getting breathless and dizzy they should check his bloods before every session and would order a transfusion to counteract it  oh and only take metoclopramide every 6 hours as it can make him sleepy we didn’t at first then realised he was feeling totally zonked it is weird with the routine I actually had 4 rounds of Docetaxel at the full dose 16 years ago As part of treatment for Breast cancer

  • Ok. All his bloods were fine Thursday & the Thursday before & every time he had immunotherapy hus bloods were good. The only prob he ever had was a drop in calcium months ago & thats why he takes Adcal D3 so he can have Zometa.

Hes never been anemic nor breathless or cough. I didnt know that about the metoclopramide with being sleepy. So much to take in & remember...

TBH since chemo hes been perkier & not so much joint pain, but I cant see it working that fast?

  • Tillyboo, could the reduced joint pain, extra energy and increased appetite be due to the steroids your husband has been taking to prevent nausea (due to the chemo)?  I found I felt wonderful for four days while i was taking Dexamethasone, but then "crashed" in the following days when it finished.  I would gradually pick up again and be ready for the next round!  Also, the large number of meds, all with different schedules, are hard to remember - I ended up keeping a careful spreadsheet/list, with columns showing when I took a med, what it was, and importantly, when the next dose was due - that way I could be sure I wasn't missing some or taking too much of anything else!  Best to you both as you go through this phase of your husband's journey
