Good morning all
I have been suffering with neck pain for quite a while and my oncologist ordered me a neck CT scan. Got the results yesterday and I have spread to the bone at base of my skull/top of spine. I am totally floored by this as we all thought it was a muscular issue. Gutted to say the least. I have got to have 5 sessions of radiotherapy. For this I will need to have a mask moulded. This is my worst nightmare as I am so claustrophobic and now so stressed out. Has anyone had this done. Need some positivity right now. I was putting up a good fight but now feel completely lost. Thank you for reading.
Hi RainbowRobins, I had to have a mask fitted for 33 sessions of radiotherapy to the neck so I know what it is like to be strapped down immobile but it's the only way they can deliver the radiation with millimetre precision. They can see you all the time and they will intervene if you simply raise a hand. You can also ask for a mild sedative to help with the claustrophobia. All the best!

Thanks for replying Patrick. How long did each session last for?
I was in and out within 10 minutes but I did have 33 fractionated doses. Best to ask your radiologist as it probably varies from case to case

Thanks Patrick I will ask at the planning appointment. Hope they are quick sessions.
