Hi I’m new here was diagnosed last week with Terminal Lung cancer , so there looking for treatments that can hopefully prolong my life at least for a little bit at least
Hi Heartfelt welcome to the group but sorry you find yourself here. Ellasmum is correct, terminology has changed in recent years, and incurable but treatable has replaced terminal for many people. I myself have been incurable since 2014, and at the beginning when talk of terminal and palliative treatment was used, it was very scary. So many people are now living much longer lives with lung cancer on treatment than ever before, and new treatments like immunotherapy and target treatments are able to put the cancer “to sleep” for a very long time. Lots of positive stories here in the group, so please don’t give up hope, that’s the one thing cancer can never take from us.
Hello Heartfelt,
I second Ellasmum's and chellesimo's comments. I had lung cancer treatment 11 years ago and fortunately it has not recurred up to now.
However, about 9 years ago I was then diagnosed with prostate cancer which was treated but recurred last year and my consultant described my treatment as incurable and palliative. I was shocked when I first saw this but, like the treatments now available for lung cancer, my treatment for prostate cancer is intended to put it to sleep for years to come.
I wish you all the best,
Derek.
