Hello, recently diagnosed with upper left lung cancer. Waiting for appointment for biopsies, staging and treatment plans. Utterly terrified at this point, but trying to stay as positive as possible.
Thank you for listening,

Dorland

  • Hi' Dorland. you are with friends on here. We've all been where you are now, I'm not long out of surgery for my lung one last November It was my second one, My first was last April to remove 80mm of my bowel.

For sure it's not fun you just have to get on with it. I'm feeling fine now and more or less back to my normal self so there's no reason why you shouldn't be the same after whatever treatment you have.

Just my humble opinion, I chose surgery, they cut it out it's gone but that's me.

Keep in touch, as I said you are with friends on here. It's like driving a car we've all had to start but none of us wanted too

  • Hi Dorland I’m in the same position going for my biopsy tomorrow. Feeling very anxious about what is ahead for me. But I’m determined to stay positive and do whatever is needed to get me healthy again. Please don’t let you anxiety and fear of the unknown make you feel bad. We have got this and with the help of people who have been through what we are experiencing we will keep going. I have read lots and lots of positive outcomes. Keep well and just take it one step at a time love and hugs xxxx

  • Hi. Being terrified is perfectly normal, I was the same having been diagnosed with upper left lung cancer in August 2023. Having gone through what seemed like endless investigations including CT scans with contrast, PET scan and lung biopsy, I began my treatment of targeted radiotherapy at the end of November 2023 and finished on the 15 December 2023, having had eight treatments.

Once these investigations are all over the specialist team can then plan your treatment going forward. You will find that mentally it gets a bit easier once treatment starts as you will feel something positive is being done after the endless investigations and waiting time for results. All the investigations are necessary to find the very best treatment for your type of cancer.

Everyone on this forum has had, or is going through the same, and it helps to ask questions or just to chat, or maybe even have a rant, so please keep in touch.

    Very best wishes Heart

  • Hi Dorland

I’m so sorry to learn of your diagnosis Disappointed

Its such a shock and you must be totally blindsided and feeling confused and helpless.

I’m quite new to the group too, I’m newly diagnosed as metastatic lung cancer, so both lungs, spine and lymphangitis. A possible stage 4 knowing what I know so far. I’ve had scans, a biopsy and I’ve seen a thoracic consultant and I’m now waiting for a head CT and then an oncologist appointment to work out a plan. In my case I’m inoperable and incurable but I’m still going to put up one hell of a fight. I have grandkids I need to see grow up so I’m determined to hang around a bit longer yet.

What I wanted to say to you is, I know you’re terrified, I 100% feel it as I am too, as does everyone here. it’s hard having an uncertain future but on a positive note I only started this journey a little over 4 weeks ago and they are really getting on with it and they definitely will for you too. They don’t keep you hanging around as they want to find a plan of action for you as much as you do.
You will definitely find the support you need here from people who know better than anyone what you are going through so you’ve come to the right place. So good luck, keep your chin up (easy to say I know) and keep posting here, we all understand, best wishes, Jools
