Hi everyone my name is Mark I live at home now with my mother and father who has a tumor and cancerous and cannot operate he is down to 6 stone 3lbs now he had is first radiotherapy last week its a progressive cancer they cannot operate because its in the lung near the spine he is on all kinds of medication like morphine tabs liquid antibiotics besides rest of them because of his situation and he is bed ridden now I would just like to no if I should take him for is second blast or keep at home where is loved ones are .we are coming to terms of what's going to happen but it's how longcan someone survive without eating
Hi Yorkie bar welcome to the group, but sorry to hear about your dad. I would suggest you take him to his next appointment, radiotherapy can really help with pain relief, as it shrinks the tumour which then relieves the pressure on the nerves. They will assess him at his appointment before the session starts, and ask him how he is feeling in general. They will not continue with the treatment if they do not think he is well enough.
If you are worried about him not eating then I suggest you speak to his lung nurse. If he becomes really unwell then call 111.
Thank you for your kind words we had doctors to him yesterday and they decided for me to phone st james radiotherapy department to cancel he has had one blast but he has contracted a a chest infection and was advised not to take him.he has got to stage where is talking about his younger years but the state of him personally I don't think hw will last much longer .we think he is at the worse stage of his cancer all we can do his keep him comfortable has he just sleeps all the time and refuses any kind of food or buld up drinks only thing he has is water or tea .we think he has given up .we have macmillan nurses coming Thursday and palliative nurses Friday but thank you for the kind words and just someone to guide me
