Hi, I am 60 years old and was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer in May 2023 and was given 5 years. I’ve just finished 20 cycles of Amivantimab and I'm still taking Lazertinib daily.
I had to stop the Amivantimab because of the various side effects. That's the long story cut short but I wanted to join in to ask for any advice anyone might have to get myself out of a very low period? I don't want to do anything, go anywhere and can't see the point in much at all. My husband has been amazing but I think he's struggling to know how to help me out of this.
Look forward to hearing from anyone.
Annette
I feel for you … I am at a loss as to how to help you personally, but I’m sure someone will read this and maybe be able to give you some guidance .. I sincerely hope that you get some support … I am sending a massive hug to you xx
Hi Net59 welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. It is very hard when you find yourself in this situation. There have been many times that I found myself not wanting to do anything, not see anyone, or leave the house. What I do know, is that if I can get out the house for a little walk or a little drive, it does make me feel better.
Do you have any support groups near you? There are often macmillan centres, or a maggies centre located near the hospital, who are great for popping into just for a chat.
You can always come here to have a chat with one of us. We are certainly not experts, but we do know what you are going through, because we are going through it too.
Hi Chelle,
Thank you for replying, it helps to know I'm not alone in this horrible situation, that you know how I feel. I do have great support from my husband and family but I don't always want to tell them when I'm feeling down as I don’t want to worry them.
You mention Maggie's? I've not heard of them but I'll definitely do some searching, thanks and I will try and get out for a walk and a drive.
Thanks again Chelle, take care.
Thank you, for your reply and your hug, really appreciated.
I know what your going through as I’m going through the same diagnosis plus prostate cancer which is under control thankfully, talking to loved ones can be hard at times and if there’s a group near you that would be great, this forums invaluable at times, sending hugs xx Robert
