Hi Crossed Fingers. I've recently been through what you are going through. Mine was lower right. I had my surgery 7 week ago and I'm feeling fine just a little sore still but fine. I was only in three days you should be about the same. Every thing is more or less normal now for me, I'll be walking out for a pint shortly. Try not to let it get you down you're with lots of folk on here who have been there. You are in a club none of us want to be a member of but here we are supporting each other as best we can. You'll be o/k stay positive.
This is my second time as I had 80mm of my Bowell removed last year.
Hello Crossed fingers, it's a shock to find yourself in this position for the first time but don't despair, as Jagman has said you'll be OK. From what you've said you are at a very early stage and your prospects after surgery are excellent.
I had total removal of my right lung because I was at a more advanced stage when diagnosed, this was just over 10 years ago and I've been fine on the lung front ever since. My stay in hospital was 6 days but it was a more extensive operation so took a little longer to recover before being discharged.
Lung cancer was my first time round, I had prostate cancer 8 years ago - full details in my profile.
I wish you all the best for your treatment.
Derek.
Hello Crossed Fingers,
Wow, I’m so impressed with the speed. When I knew I could have surgery I felt nothing but relief as apparently it’s only possible in the early stages. I’ve had un upper right lobectomy and 2.5 years later I’m still cancer free. You may only be in hospital for a few days. Just follow all the advice they give and make sure to take the pain relief as it will help you to do all the breathing exercises to recover quickly.
Try not to worry too much and relax as much as possibly. I’m not surprised you are feeling overwhelmed. You could contact one of the nurses here to talk to about everything you are feeling. I also spoke to the Samaritans when I needed to unload. It’s a huge shock to the system.
Wishing you all the best
Daisy xx
