Hi everyone, I’ve (30) joined today after we were told my dad (65) has terminal lung cancer that has spread to his lymph nodes and spine. I’m really struggling to deal with it. Hoping i can feel supported here.
I am getting married in December and have just had a baby boy. Why is life so cruel? I just wish we had more time. Thanks x
Hi SantaCat welcome to the group, but sorry to hear about your dad. I know how terrifying it is to hear a parent has cancer. Will dad be starting any treatment ?
Congratulations on your baby and your forthcoming wedding. This will definitely give your dad something to look forward too. I know it is hard, but making memories is so precious for you.

Thank you so much Chelle. He’s starting radiotherapy next week and they’ll be discussing any further treatment once that has been done. I just feel so up and down. One minute I’m fine and positive, grateful he’s still here, and then the outcome hits me and I’m a mess.
Thank you for sending the link to the other forum.
I had radiotherapy and I had a very good result from it. There are a few of us here who are incurable but treatable, and have been around for several years. Lung cancer treatment has come such a long way in recent years, and many people are living much longer lives on treatment than ever before. Never give up hope.
Hi SantaCat
A very similar story has taken place in our family this year: in June my husband was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, which had spread to his adrenal gland.
My son and his partner had arranged their wedding for the end of August, and there were concerns about whether he would be able to attend.
We had a wonderful family day, made so many memories, and he coped with the whole day with love and support from friends and family, and the loan of a wheelchair,
The Oncology Unit were wonderful, as he was in the middle of immunotherapy/ chemotherapy cycles, they heard about the celebration and arranged for a blood transfusion to help boost his energy levels.
We will always remember the wedding, and him being there.
Very best wishes for your own special day, I know you be surrounded by love and support.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
