Scared

Hi,

I want to start by saying I'm sorry to all of you diagnosed. I feel a fraud being here, as I haven't yet been diagnosed or been to a gp.

I am just so scared and worried and hoped that there may be someone who understands and that I can reach out to.

Two months ago I visited a&e with pain that radiated from my chest into my back, but I was also having muscle pains in my legs. I was sent home being told it was nothing.

The pain in my chest/back seems to be sharper, I have had a cough in the day for a number of weeks, night sweats and lower back pain.  I've tried ibuprofen purely to shift the pain, but it doesn't work. However the pain, which comes and goes is not that bad that I need medication.

I don't know if I'm being a hypochondriac, if my symptoms are age, a virus and poor posture, or if I have cause for concern.  Because of Xmas I can't get into the gp for another 3 weeks! And my mind is going crazy.

  • Hi   when you were at A&E what tests did they carry out to for them to decide it was nothing?
No one should have to wait 3 weeks to see a GP, if you are having chest pain you need to phone the GP surgery to be seen sooner. If it gets worse call 111.

Your pain can be for a number of reasons, but worrying about it will only make it worse not better, You need to see a GP who I hope will be able to put your mind at rest.

  • Thank you for responding. I think they were going down the heart route, taking bloods, ecg, no xrays, etc. They said I had a virus, and lots of small issues but nothing of concern.

I will try to push the doctors today for an earlier appointment.
