Hi there,

We have just been given the devastating news that my mum's SCLC has returned and is now in both lungs, rib cage and lymph nodes. She's currently in hospital after fracturing her hip before we got the devastating news.

She got 6 and half years so far since first diagnosis which is amazing. I'm now absolutely terrified of what's to come. I'm not sleeping at all. They are talking of now sending her home and they says she's not ill enough to get a place in a hospice but we as a family will care for her at home.

I'm just finding it all very scary and I don't know how I'm going to deal with it all.

thanks for reading my post, I just wanted to get it out there and out of my head.

  • Hi  I am sorry to hear the news about your mum. Caring for a loved one with cancer is a very scary situation. We cared for my mum at home, she had ovarian cancer. We were given a hospital bed so mum could sleep in the lounge. We also had a Macmillan nurse who would come in every day. Your mum might not be at the stage to need that sort of help, but it will be available when it is needed.
It is very important that you look after yourself, whilst caring for your mum. There are a couple of support groups here on the online community that you can also join, where you can get support from other people who are in a very similar situation to yourself.

You can also call the support line on 0808 808 00 00. They are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm.
Wishing you and mum all the very best.
