Hi. I was diagnosed eith suspected lung cancer following a targeted lung scan programme being piloted in my area. I was devasted to discover this as i had no symptoms whatsoever & was very fit even though im 65! All the tests & scsns showed it hadnt spread. I had surgery 6 weeks ago to remove the lower left lobe & this has been successful in removing the tumour which was a T3.
Now im waiting for more results & a consultation with oncology to see if i need chemo as well. Its all been complicated by my getting sepsis a week after my discharge from hospital & my surgeon is concerned that if the infection hasnt completely cleared any chemo i do need will have to wait.
Onviously with Christmas coming as well, i may have to wsit awhile which is slightly concerning
Hello Superdv I have just read your post regarding your lung cancer surgery and wait for results. I am sorry to find you haven't had any reply. I can't answer your question as I have a different cancer, however by me replying your post will be "bumped" back to the top of the forum and will be seen by other forum members.
I do hope the infection has now cleared and you are feeling much better. it may be with Christmas looming an idea to give your consultants secretary a call to see if there is any news yet.
Best wishes - Brian.

Sorry i do not come on the group often.
I have lung cancer, incurable day one, i was started on chemo and had a heart attack.
My Oncologist, said all treatment will be stopped, for 6 weeks, for your to recover. I panicked and said please put me back on it, she said she would and her words where, us Oncologist know how long we can leave a patient and six weeks will be go
I hope you get the news you want to here soon.
Hi Superdv I am so sorry I missed your post and wasn’t here to welcome you to our group. Sorry to hear you had sepsis after your operation. I can understand your surgeons worry about the chemo, as chemo does strip all the good bits out of your blood whilst attacking the cancer cells at the same time. My sister ended up in hospital with sepsis whilst in chemo for her breast cancer, the sepsis itself was very a tiny paper cut on her finger!
This being said, your oncologist will start you on the treatment as soon as you are well enough, and Christmas does not stop for cancer treatment.
I read that your diagnoses was picked up from a piloted screening process. I have seen on the Roy castle lung foundation group, that this is being rolled out nationally now. This is really good news, as we all know that early diagnoses is key.
Please do let us know when you have spoken to your oncologist. Hopefully he will have some good news about your treatment soon for you.
Hi Chelle. thank you for your kind words. I agree that he pilot lung scanning is an absolute life saver. I'm telling everyone that I can to just make the appointment when they get the letter. I gave up smoking over 13 years ago & was feeling about the fittest I've ever been so you just don't know.
I have (yet another) CT scan tomorrow - I must be so radioactive they can see me from space! So I'm hoping that I'll kniw a bit more next week.
Take care
