Had the shock of my life back in April this year as diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer which has spread to my lymph nodes. Told it was incurable but could be managed. I had no symptoms other than a lump above my collar bone that had come up before last Christmas and investigations byENT had told me was of no concern !
I began immunotherapy and will be having my 5th treatment today. So far continue to feel no different to how I have done for years ! It is very hard to accept the diagnosis as it still does not feel real. I can’t talk to my partner as he goes into total panic mode and doesn’t want to hear.
I am waiting for the results of a CT scan which I had 3 weeks ago but don’t know how to interpret them when I get them.

  • I think you need someone more qualified than me to reply to this ,I to felt normal did not even know i had lung cancer ,was offered a scan because i was a long term smoker ,they found a nodule ,and last year i had a lobectomy to remove the middle lobe of my lung ,i have recovered well .As for interpeting i think not 100% sure but i am sure there is a place on here where you can interpet it ,someone with more knowledge will be along i am sure to inform you of whereabouts it is on the site .take care ,sorry i could not be much help  Christie

  • Hi Chris

Your consultant should discuss the results of you CT scan with you really at the moment they are looking to see that your treatment is working and you scan will show if there has been shrinkage or if you are stable or if there has been progression. Whatever you do don't Google anything that will only add to you anxiety cause the information is usually out of date and not accurate.

We are a great bunch of people here, happy to help and support when we can you can also contact the Macmillan helpline on 0808 808 0000. They are brilliant at getting you the help you need so don't be afraid to call them.

If you just want to chat rant rave or even have a laugh you can come to this forum there is always someone with good advice, or if you just need an ear you are welcome to message me

    Hugs for now Donna
