Hi I saw consultant today to receive my diagnosis after a whirlwind few weeks of tests. PET scan MRI scan, echocardiogram, lung function, CT guided biopsy last week. The result I have adenocarcinoma in one lung with one lymph node nearby also affected. I have been advised that surgery is not possible due to the location of the cancer. So it will be radical radiotherapy and chemo. Now waiting for an appointment with oncologist to discuss treatment plan. I forgot to ask stage of cancer. Anybody else going through similar. Not sure how I feel - relieved that I now at least know but also worried about going forward. I gave up smoking nearly 20 yrs ago so shocked that at 74 I have now been diagnosed with lung cancer
Thanks everyone for your responses. Funny thing is as far as I am aware there is no history of lung cancer except possibly my Dads elder sister who died years ago so I’m not sure. One of the things I am dreading most is telling my family in particular my Mum who is still going strong at 96yrs old
