Hello I'm diagnosed with NSCLC adenocarcinoma. My daughter who lives in Australia has heard about Osimertinib and has suggested I ask my oncologist about it. I chose radiotherapy in place of surgery for my treatment
is anyone here on this drug and if so how are you finding it? Are your results promising?
Thanks for any help or advice

Hi Deni123 welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. Osimertinib is a targeted therapy that is used to treat people with NSCLC who also have a gene mutation called EGFR. There is no harm in talking to your oncologist about it, and seeing if it is possible to test you for the mutation.
There are a few people in the group that are on osimertinib, whilst you wait for someone who is on this treatment to come along and chat with you, I will pop an information sheet below for you to read.

Hello Deni,
I have been on Osmertinib for nearly two years now. My oncologist prescribed it immediately I was diagnosed Stage 4 (EGFR).
At first I reacted to the drug by throwing up constantly. The dosage was reduced to 40mg and I have had very little trouble or side effects since. I am very happy with progress so far especially as my initial diagnosis in 2021 was 4 to 6 months.
Scans have shown very little cancer growth in the 3 sites but there was some change 2 months ago. I have just had a full CT scan and will see the Oncologist for the results on the 13th of June. I know that Osimertinib will become less effective as time goes on.
I have always declined offers of radio, chemo or laser treatments.
So I can only say that Osimertinib has not only prolonged my life but has also allowed me life quality.
Best,
Ian
PS: Please see the Telegraph from yesterday (Monday 5 June) for an interesting article about Osimertinib.
Thanks so much for your positive response. I spoke to the LC nurse 2 days ago and she told me it was usually given to advanced cases of LC.
My daughter saw the article about Osimertinib in the Telegraph and flagged it up to me.
the LC nurse told me she’d speak to the oncologist about it for me. So just waiting for a response.
Best wishes
Denise
My husband has Stage 4 lung cancer he started on Osimertinib in December his cancer has gone from 45% to 33% apart from dry skin and a rash he has been good on them. We are so grateful they are working. He was told as long as they are working they are his lifeline.
All the best.
