Hi, How long does it usually take from diagnosis to surgery. A mass was spotted in my left upper lobe early March, I have had all the usual tests and on the 28th April at my appointment with the MDT clinic I was told that it was T2 N1 M0 adenocarcinoma and we agreed on my having a lobectomy, and to wait for call from the hospital and that I should have surgery within 4 weeks. I have now been given my appointment for the 27th June. I'm sure I read somewhere that it should be 62 days from diagnosis to treatment.
Hi,
I was diagnosed early March one year ago. I had my lobectomy on 22 May, filling a cancellation. At the time the wait was between 6 to 8 weeks. It may be worthwhile asking your cancer nurse if you could be considered for any cancellation appointments. The waiting is not easy, especially as we don’t know how long it’s likely to be.
All the best, xx
Thank you, yes I will give her a call as it has already been 12 weeks
I have almost same as you . Symptoms in April 2022 My Gp ignored all my symptoms. Finally X-ray october 2022 showed shadow
not suspicious three courses of antibiotics then CT then Pet scan then bronchoscope then CT Biopsy. Cancer cells found same as yours. So from October to April to diagnose. Had meet with surgeon yesterday and he now wants an up to date ct as the the last one is too old. Two weeks to wait for that. Then 4-6 weeks to wait for surgery. I’m terrified that all this wasted time is gonna affect my outcome. The waiting is absolute torture
Mine is almost the same as yours, but I haven't shown any of the normal symptoms, April 2022 my right foot and leg was swollen GP blamed it on my weight, so tried working out for myself what was causing it to swell, so 10 months and 6 phone appointments later he decides to send me for a chest x-ray, I was sure that it would come back clear as I can't even remember the last time I had a cold, I worked all the way through the lockdown as a courier and about the only one in my depot who didn't catch covid so imagine my shock when I was told I have lung cancer. And like you said this waiting is torture even more so when the surgeon says you will be in within 2 week then his secretary phones with the date and its 5 weeks away.
Recalled after yearly CT September last year. Scan November. Consult December. Treatment plan Feb then pet scan lobectomy March.
I wanted it ASAP but they were struggling for beds/ staff, and maybe they didn’t feel I was urgent
I think phoning for a cancellation is a really good ideA

I'm wondering which part of the country people are waiting for treatment. I'm waiting longer than I was told I would be - this is for London hospital. I'm lucky that my cancer is early stage, but I'm worried my surgery will keep being put off until it's become more serious.
I’m Bristol and my NHS are struggling but they’re doing the best they can
Recently someone I know was in hospital with symptoms of bowel issues they had every test but a colonoscopy. They sent him home and he’s now got an outpatient appointment

I live in Buckinghamshire and having my surgery in a London hospital.
I agree the hospital staff are really doing their best and are very overstretched. That doesn't stop me panicking, unfortunately.
