Hi everyone can I just firstly say thank you for all the well wishes I received and sorry I didn't back to you.
I had a upper left lobectomy, well they removed 3 sections of my left lung on the 4th April, is it normal to still be a little out of breath after doing certain things, eg going upstairs I have to sit down for a couple of minutes to get my breath back.
Also has anyone had issues with the numbness on the opposite side to where they had their surgery, it is quite sore on my right side of my chest and still numb, it's like really bad pins and needles pain and so uncomfortable
I have my follow up appointment tomorrow so will hopefully find out if anymore treatment is needed.
Thank you everyone
Hi,
Yes, my surgeon warned me I would get out of breath. He also told me it wouldn't get better all by itself, I'd have to work at it. So that's what I'm trying to do.
I started off by going up and down the stairs at home, trying to increase the number of laps I did. When that got boring I changed to walking outdoors - we have a few gentle slopes where I live, though they felt like hills at first. An exercise bike was fairly tolerable, a rowing machine a lot less so - at first. I'm slowly improving, and I expect that to continue.
I'm taking it slow though, no point beating cancer only to give myself a heart attack!
Good luck with your follow up appointment.
kind regards,
Steve
Exactly
I’m moving slower than you but I’ve had bowel cancer so this is a double whammy. Also I had critical care afterwards and that’s made me slow to recover.
I will get there. Just glad it’s over.
I bought a nebuliser to start that helped now I’m using ultra breathe as I can not walk far I have no energy
Well done with your recovery
Ann
