Evening everyone, in the last few weeks have attended multiple appointments with my Dad.
Long story short he has been diagnosed with stage 4 non small cell lung cancer - it has spread middle of chest? (lymph nodes) and also 5 areas shown in his brain.
He has been prescribed steroids' and we are awaiting an appointment with an oncologist to discuss treatment/? ( could take 3 weeks they said) but also have said dad has weeks to months when asked about his time/future. ?
Feels like so much in a few weeks and now just waiting
Looking at him I cant see only weeks aside from chesty and loss of voice - which is what triggered these scans and the discovery he is ok and going about his day to day business
Find myself trying to find out as much as I can , I understand each case is different - such a confusing time
Hi, so sorry to hear of this situation. Please request oncologist to test for Alk Positive mutation. Mets are frequently in lungs and brain. The prognosis and treatment are very different from lung cancer. There is a lot of information on the Alk+ website.
Wishing you all the best
