Hi All my 79 year old mother just been diagnosed with stage 3-4 Adenocarcinoma of her right lung, it’s contained in the lungs but her chest lymph nodes are inflamed. Wondered if anyone has had a similar diagnosis? We are awaiting an appointment with the oncologist once her bio marker results are back. Love to hear from people who’ve been in a similar position, thanks in advance.
Hi Shaztan
I'm sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis. I have a different type of cancer but noticed that you had not yet had any replies. My response to you will move your post back to the top so that it is seen by more members. Best wishes for your mother's results and appointment.

Hi thanks for responding, we are just waiting for the oncologist appointment to verify that. Sadly mum gave up smoking 20 years ago but smoked heavily before that. I hope you’re treatment is going well. Do you mind me asking if you have many side effects with this type of treatment?
Hi Shaztan
I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I’m 45 and I got diagnosed with early stage Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer in my right lung. Usually, you don’t get symptoms until it’s later stage but I kept getting sharp chest pain and shortness of breath that kept coming and going. I went in to A&E 2 years complaining something wasn’t right but they kept saying they can’t find anything on my scans. Later in the same year my GP referred me to see a liver specialist as my bloods results were great and needed to know what was causing all this. Liver specialist saw that A&E missed a lump on my right lung middle lobe for well over 6 months when Liver Specialist found it. I was seen by my Thoracic Surgeon within weeks and he convinced me and himself that as I’m young, I don’t smoke and I live a healthy life with no cancer history in my family that it was just going to be benign. In my first surgery in December 2021 they removed the middle lobe and the lump to think the rest will be ok as most likely benign. Few weeks later I got told it is Cancer so they need to go back in to remove the rest of my right lung just in case it’s got to my lymph nodes. Second recovery period was a lot work for me than the first as had lots of breathing issues, had number chest infections, pneumonia, covid and Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot in my lung). I found the summer last year was a huge struggle and was on a nebuliser at home, asthma inhalers that I never needed before as not asthmatic. I bought water humidifier’s around my house to put moisture in the air and have a AC unit as gasped for air in the heat. Anyway, year after surgery I’ve just hand my first annual CT Scan and all is looking great but I won’t lie, every time I have a symptom I’m worried sick has my cancer returned. Life is too short, instead of reading too much in to it just invest in living life to the max and spend quality time with your mother. Just make her comfortable and always let her know she’s never alone. I hope all the hospital appointments go well for her, if you have any questions feel free to ask and I will try to help you.
