Hi

I'm new to this so bear with me. I've recently been diagnosed with lung cancer for my 4th time. Surgery isn't an option this time round coz of the place the tumours are positioned. I have one near my heart in the left lobe and one in the lymph nodes. I am starting radiotherapy and chemo together everyday for 6wks. on 12th April. Has anybody got any tips or information to help me on my way.

TIA

  • Hi Moonbug

You will be having a lot of treatment over a relatively short time period , so expect to feel very tired as the treatment progresses over the 6 wks.

The radiotherapy continues to work for some time after your final session; however so do the side effects. Therefore the tiredness may also continue.  This is very normal.

As for the chemo, everyone reacts differently. For me, it was my blood counts that  dropped significantly. On two occasions my chemo was delayed by a week. Again this is normal and does not impact on the efficacy of the treatment.

On a practical note; fill the freezer with ready meals as the treatment may impact on your appetite; best to have somethings available that can be quickly thrown in the microwave when needed.  Focus on maintaining your calorie intake rather than healthy eating.

    Good luck with the treatment.

  • Hi

    Thankyou for message Relaxed️

Been doing lots of research and not looking forward to any of it but I'm positive.

Got oncology consultant today and oncology nurse tomorrow so it's becoming real now as don't think it had hit me properly yet.

    Hope your doing well. X
