Hi everyone, my Partner who has Stage 4 lung cancer was rushed into hospital last night with a suspected blood clot on the left lung , partner has maintenance course every 3 weeks the last session was 12 days ago, he thought it was the chemo attacking the bad cancer cells that was causing the pain. we got told this morning it is actually the cancer that is spreading and that is why my partner is in so much pain in his chest and the bottom of his back. so maybe the treatment is not working anymore I'm not sure, just have to wait until the end of January for the appointment with oncologist .

Hi Internet sorry to hear this news about your partner. Is he still in hospital or have they allowed him to come home? I had a blood clot on my lung at the start of my diagnoses, and was sent home with injections to use to disperse the clot.
I hope they have managed to get the pain under control for him. I wonder if the appointment may be brought forward, maybe give the oncologist secretary a call so they are aware.
If a pulmonary embolism was suspected, then I assume imaging has been done. I would definitely be contacting your partner's oncologist and seeing if they can get access to those images and if the appointment can be brought forward.
The hospital should not discharge your partner without an adequate pain management plan in place.
