Hi,
I posted here around 2 weeks ago that I had some symptoms like pain in the fingers and hand and a bit of breathing problems and I think I have a bit of wheezing when lying.
I visited a lung specialist doc and he sended me to x-ray which was clear. And lung function test was also fine.
Since I had still the symptoms he sended me to get a CT (without contrast because I am allergic to it) and after one more week I got the results from him and also from the radiologist that my thorax CT was fine.
Since I still have this symptoms, should I trust both doctors since they told me my CT was fine?
I was worrying about sclc because of my neoplastical symptoms and the breathing and they told me the CT does not show anything suspicious.
Or should I try to get another explanation for my symptoms?
No I don't have any infection. I just feel really unwell with symptoms, finger pain, breathing problems, pain in my right chest in one point, headache, and now I get a strange cough.
As I wrote my thorax x-ray 4 weeks ago was clean that's what the pulmonologist said and my thorax CT (without contrast because I am allergic to it) was according to the pulmonologist and the radiologist fine.
The pulmonologist told me with or without contrast there is no big difference in the CT.
But now I read that CT without contrast is not enough to see tumors.
And I am angry with myself I did not take with contrast but then I would have felt really bad too because of the jodid contrast.
Now it's weekend and my condition gets worse and worse.
I also do not understand if it is possible that a lung cancer can make symptoms that fast worse without being seen in a CT without contrast.
Then it can only be an sclc because nsclc does not make that crazy symptoms when it's small.
So I have no clue and just feel awful. No doctors available at new year weekend.
You don’t need contrast. Cancer stands out like a sore thumb. My sisters was picked up on an X-Ray
As you don’t have lung cancer there’s nothing to show
I had a CT no contrast as a monitoring after my Bowel cancer. Two nodules showed at the bottom of my lungs so I was given a chest CT no contrast then emergency lung function and consultation on 28th December. Now have many on both lungs so booked in for pre op and navigational bronchoscopy
They don’t mess around with anything suspect.
Ann
Thanks for the answer and what are they going to do exactly in your case? First bronchoscopy then operation?
Btw my pulmonologist said to me same what you say. Contrast not needed. That and my problem with the jodid contrast made me to think that CT without contrast is completely enough.
But my symptoms are getting worse that's what makes me to really start worrying.
How can a not visible thing (according to pulmonologist and radiologist) make such insane symptoms.
Both were very convinced that the CT was absolut fine.
I really don't know what to do now. The pulmonologist has holidays since 9th January.
I’m not sure what symptoms you have.
I have none but the CT without contrast shows both lungs are involved. I am having a biopsy to see if there’s any treatment available. I’d be so happy if I wasn’t having this done. If I had a clear CT I’d be celebrating The radiologist has also taken a look at your CT scan and is not concerned so maybe three saying that it’s clear you need to see your GP for advice.
There’s a virus going around causing severe chest pain. My daughter was in A&E for eleven hours. She said most there had similar symptoms
Maybe you have a virus
Ann
I am very sorry for your and your sisters sickness and results. I hope your biopsy will bring very good results! And I hope your daughter is doing much better now!
Can you do an operation? Because you wrote of Pre OP.
I do not have a virus and I still have bad symptoms with strong finger and toe pain, one point on my right chest where I got pain, wheezing while lying, breathing problems, nausea and a general sick feeling.
And my symptoms got worse in the last 6 weeks, so I am a bit lost. My GP was not much interested in my problems, so I changed the GP. And last week nearly every doctor was on holidays. Some even the next week too.
I guess I go to the new GP tomorrow since I anyway need new medicaments.
