Hi my husband received his diagnosis in November, this week he had 5 days of full head radiotherapy and also his first chemotherapy and immunotherapy, coping well at the moment.
what can I expect as it’s me that’s not coping too well and I’m constantly asking questions that I don’t want the answers too. We know this is palliative treatment but what can I expect??? He’s only 62 years old and never smoked, led a healthy lifestyle, this is just so unfair .
Advice appreciated
Hi Goose, welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. It is so scary when a loved one is living with cancer, there is so much information to take in, and it is not always what you want to hear.
Can I suggest you also join the supporting someone with incurable cancer group which you may find helpful. You can chat to people there who are in a similar situation to yourself.
You can also call the Macmillan support line on 0808 808 00 00 and chat to a support worker there. They are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm.
Although the treatment your husband is on can be harsh, it is good to see he is on treatment, for where there is treatment there is hope. I have heard of people who are on the chemo / immunotherapy combination who have had really good results. People with lung cancer are living longer lives on treatment than ever before, so please do not give up hope xx
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
