Hello, I am 44 and just been told I have a 5cm mass on my lung, I have bronchoscopy on 29th and am just terrified, not of the procedure but of the result  of course Frowning2 I have two little children 4 and 6 and am just terrified for them, the unknown is crippling me, my stomach is going mad and basically I feel sick and exhausted, not slept properly for ages as the children are unwell also. I  in complete panic mode with no idea what to do. All suggestions welcome.x

  • Hi Tallis,

I do so feel for you. It’s the waiting and not knowing that makes this all so challenging, especially when little people rely on you. You might contact your GP and see if they will prescribe some antidepressants to help you calm down. I’ve had similar stomach and digestive system experiences at times of great stress and antidepressants helped me. I also did some sleep hypnosis on UTube for a while. I now listen to audiobooks at night.

I had a 43mm mass on my lung. They removed it and offered chemo. The whole process took from February, discovery, to 22 May when I had the tumour removed. You can contact MacMillan nurses via this website or Roy Castle Lung Cancer site to talk to a professional about all your worries. I found this so helpful.

I hope some others will have more suggestions for you and I wish you all luck

    Love Daisy xxx

  • Hi Tallis , we all understand that fear . I found the macmillan support line so helpful at the time , I literally spent hours just crying at someone on there and they never got fed up with me …. I agree it may be worth having a chat with your gp see if they can help too? Much love Elly x

  • Hi Tallis
I feel for you. Being told you have cancer is terrifying and you are young with small children.
The unknown is so hard to deal with. I think and hope that once you have a treatment plan, you will feel a little better.
Grab any bit of support you can.
    Take care.
