Hello everyone,

I went to the opticians at end of Sep this year as I had been experiencing blurry vision. It was confirmed at the Eye Hospital that my retina was becoming detached from both eyes due to a mass behind my eyes.  After various MRI and CT Scans I was told I had primary lung cancer with mets to the surrounding lymph nodes, spine and eyes.  I have had my lung biopsy and am waiting for more detailed analysis to come back on this.  I do know the type of caner is Adenocarcinoma and am waiting for more detailed results from the biopsy before the team can discuss any targeted treatment options that will be suitable for me.

I have just this week completed 5 sessions of radiotherapy on my eyes and am now concerned about my back pain so will be in contact with the team to see whether anything can be done specifically for my spine.  It still feels all very surreal, as I had been feeling so well in myself and still do (other than recent back pain).  I feel blessed to have a very supportive family and friends around me, it has been so difficult emotionally at times for us all as of course it is for everyone on here.

The other main things that have helped me personally have been daily prayers and meditation.  I will keep everyone in this community in my prayers too and hope I can be of support in some way to others.

May God Bless us all with his love and healing x

  • Hi Mads, welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. It is such a shock when you get a cancer diagnoses, especially if you were feeling well and had no sign of what was ahead.

It is good to hear you have good support from family and friends, and hope you find this group a good support as well. We all here know what it is like to have cancer, and there is usually someone here to chat with.

You can also call the Macmillan support line who are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm on 0808 808 00 00.
