Good morning,
My partner has recently been diagnosed with a T3/4, N3, Mx non-operable non-small cell carcinoma of the lung, with a potential 2nd primary cancer of the pancreas.
Awaiting biological markers to determine appropriate chemo, but it seems to be taking so long (possibly because there were no results from the first biopsy and had to start again, causing a three-week delay).
Just want to know where we stand to be able to determine a treatment plan and maybe then to be able to stop crying....
Thanks for reading, x
Hi TiAnnM welcome to the group, but so sorry you find yourself here. It is terrifying when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, and the waiting for test results so treatment can start is torture.
That is disappointing to hear that the biopsy had to be started again. I can imagine how frustrating that must be for you both. It was about 14 days for my biopsy results, but then it was very much full steam ahead after that. My lung cancer is a sarcoma, and I had radiotherapy to shrink the main tumour, and I am now on hormone treatment.
Supporting your partner through this is tough, and you must remember to look after yourself as well. As well as talking to others here, you can call the Macmillan support line and talk to someone there. They are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm on 0808 808 00 00.
Thank you. My partner started coughing blood clots on 19 September and ended up in A&E; and we are still no nearer a treatment plan. It is just frustrating and frightening at the moment.
And then we are waiting for the biopsy results from the pancreas, which was only done on Tuesday.....
Coughing up blood is scary. That is how mine began. That stopped after my radiotherapy.
Hope the wait for the biopsy result isn’t too long x
Not good news from the oncology appointment yesterday. They are going to try chemo but reckon that it won't be curative and probably only a 25% chance of survival. And that is before they take into consideration the results from the pancreas biopsy which is due this week.
Hard couple of days.
I am sorry to hear this. It’s a lot to take in isn’t it.
Incurable cancer doesn’t mean it is not treatable. Lots of us still around many years after the incurable diagnoses on treatment. I wish you lots of luck with the pancreas biopsy x
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
