Hi, I had right upper lobe removed eight weeks ago. After 3/4 weeks developed a cough that seems to be getting worse. At my follow up appointment was told all good news. No need for any further treatment, only 6 monthly CT scans. The day after surgery I was aware that I was quite numb from my knees to just above my breast. This is still no better and I have developed a weakness in both legs, left one in particular. For this reason I am reluctant to drive. Finally, I am still extremely tired. After a good eight hour sleep I can still fall asleep again before midday. Has anyone else experienced any of these symptoms?
Hello,
I too have had a lobectomy on the upper right. I developed a cough that I’ve never had before and make mucus, sometimes pale yellow but not enough for anyone to be concerned about. I’ve found that walking or taking exercise helps to clear it. During the day I get better if I’m active but it tends to come back if I’m too sedentary. I had Carbocisteine when I came out of hospital for thinning the mucus but it upset my digestive system so I stopped.
I also have numbness in my right diaphragm and across my upper right side. Apparently it’s nerve damage and may get better in time. Mine has improved but it’s still there. Maybe have a chat to one of the nurses here and see what they suggest.
At least you are currently clear (as am I). I try to look on the bright side
Love xx
And I meant to say that I was very tired. Be kind to yourself and if you need a sleep in the afternoon have one. My family kept reminding me that it’s a big operation and encouraged me to listen to my body.
I hope you’re feeling better soon xx
Thank you Daisychain for that. It’s reassuring to know that others have similar symptoms. I can’t find a link to the nurses, any suggestions.
Hi Giddy, i am sorry to hear you are experiencing these symptoms after your surgery. Please do speak to someone in your medical team about this. Either contact your lung nurse or speak to your GP. X
