Looking for advice, Had lung cancer 3 yrs ago,but cancer scan has shown a nodule so I'm extremely anxious because I'm waiting for another scanbto see if nodules grew

  • Hi I'm not sure if I'm doing this online properly, can u help

  • Ceiling b,how do I get in to see what you've wrote as I can only see hi from yourself

  • Hi Bobbyjay1212, welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. It looks like you are posting fine, but if you do need any help around the site, please ask and I will see if I can help you.

I am so sorry to hear that a recent scan has shown a nodule. I can understand how worried you are about this especially after having lung cancer previously.

It is good that they are keeping an eye on it by scanning to see if it has grown. It doesn’t sound like they are overly concerned about it at the moment. This doesn’t stop you worrying though, I know.  X

  • Thank you,I had lung cancer in upper lobe right lung 3yr ago,was very fortunate I didn't need any treatment after op to remove the upper lobe, just worried about the nodule as they say it can take 3 month for growth stage ,just confused

  • Yes I can understand that, it’s a big worry to have for 3 months whilst you wait for scans. Just try and hold onto the positives, they are calling it a nodule, which means at the moment it is tiny, probably even too small to measure, so whatever it may be will be easily sorted x

  • I can understand your concern perfectly well, it is indeed frightening to think that after successful treatment there might be another problem. A nodule doesn't necessarily mean that there is a problem, a friend of mine had the same in his lung nearly 5 years ago but after several months of surveillance it was concluded this was not a problem at all, so nothing more had to be done - and remains well to this day. Unfortunately it does take time to establish what is involved though.

If you look at my profile you'll see that I've had a couple of scares myself over the 8 years since my lung cancer treatment and it's not easy, but unfortunately all you can really do is resign yourself for a wait for investigations to take their course as there's nothing we can do to speed this up. When I had problems like this I managed to console myself in the fact that, if there was a problem, it was found before it became serious and could be dealt with in the same way as my initial successful treatment - not easy I admit though.

I'm sure you'll be OK and will all turn out well for you.

    All the best, Derek.

  • Thanks Derek,I was actually more positive 3yr ago than this waiting,I felt 3yr ago you've got another chance here ,it all happened so quick before as it was found accidentally so within 3 month it was like over and done with,as you saying the waiting the worst,

  • I read your profile there, well done  I admire your strength, and glad your doing well
