I have had an upper left lung lobectomy a month ago, biopsy only done during removal of lung as tumour too close to heart to biopsy otherwise, anyway biopsy showed Neuroendocrine typical Carcinoid tumour, I have follow up on 24th February, anybody know anything about this type of tumour, TIA.

  • Hi Scouser, I too was diagnosed with a Neuroendocrine tumour of the lung in November after a CT guided needle biopsy. They have decided it is too close to the main artery to remove so I will be having monthly Lanreotide injections for my treatment. I just have to have a specialised scan called on Octreotide scan to check for further spread although this was scheduled for 9th  February but was cancelled because the camera was broken. I am now in limbo because I don't know when I will be having this scan.

Mine too is classed as typical carsonoid low grade and they don't seem to be in any rush to treat it. That is not the point though. The effect it has on your mental health is very significant. I am normally very grounded and calm but all this uncertainty is not good for me.

I truly hope your treatment goes more smoothly than mine.

Hi Suzanne, I can't complain about my treatment, surgery was as expected, tumour removed, not sure what happens next.

You don't seem to be having much luck with your treatment, I know they have said low grade to you, but it's still a worry, as for being in limbo, I think that's the worst thing about tests etc, the waiting is the worst thing I've dealt with, at least when they give you a plan it's something that you can focus on.

Hopefully you will have some news soon, wishing you all the best, take care xx
