Hello Val I have just been diagnosed with lung cancer, it is inoperable and I am about to start chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatment, it’s all scary I know my advise is stay positive as you can and live the best life possible. Try not to worry about things you can’t control and focus on staying healthy, try and do something fun everyday and don’t let the cancer define who you are
Hi Val
My husband was diagnosed with incurable metastisised NSLC in June last year (hes 57). He is just about to have his 5th immunotherapy treatment. After the 4th, he had a CT scan and we were told that his tumours had shrunk by at least half. Chemo and surgery is not an option for him. Treatments these days have come so far. We have a philosophy of make every day count. Sending you hugs and hoping to be having this conversation in 10 years !!

Hello, I just wanted to reply and send you a virtual hug. I am the same age as you and had my surgery last year. I think its natural, whatever position you are in, to feel this way. when I had my 1st CT following surgery etc, I was dreading it but it was clear. Now I'm dreading the next one! My oncology nurse said, when I asked the same question as you, is that they can only predict up to 5 years as so far thats how long they scan for and have the data. She did say, however, that now we will be scanned for life, every 6 months. It apparently has been needed for a long time but thats a good thing and it will hopefully stop us thinking up to 5 years. I reminded her that I havent retired yet so have no plans on going anywhere yet! I am waiting for my long awaited pension after the government changed the goal. Like me, you will be a WASPI lady
