Hi folks I'm 46 and I've had Cancer now for 2 years I initially had anal cancer which spread to my left lung, which came as a complete shock, there was two treatments offered, surgery which I had taking out one of the tumors with a wedge section the other treatment that was suggested was SABR radiotherapy as the remaining cancer was small and I was a good candidate for the procedure.  I took the plunge and literally signed my life away to go ahead with the radiotherapy, but there was to be complications the tumour was dangerously close to my stomach lining. After a reassured consultation I was booked in for a mould of my upper torso so that I would be strapped to the bench so I didn't move a muscle, it was to be 5 sessions over two weeks of high intensity radiotherapy  the initial procedure was straight forward although I was on the bench for what felt like an hour a mini panic attack almost kicked in a couple of times I can tell you. Side effects wise nothing really just fatigue to the max I travelled a long journey everyday I was in so that took it toll, no itch or burning or skin sensitivity yet, I have had a strange feeling of really cold breathlessness especially in the morning after I woke up, nausea has been the worst I'm on a couple of tabs a day to try and rectify this but it doesn't seem to last. Il find out in 3 months what the results will be so here's hoping for a great result.

  • Hi Big Cally 75 welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. I have had radiotherapy myself, but I am not sure I would of liked to have been strapped in! I also had high intensity radiotherapy but mine was 5 sessions over one week. The tiredness was the worst for me. The sore skin built up over the coming weeks, as the radiotherapy continues to work for several weeks after the treatment has finished. I had really good results with my treatment, my tumour had shrunk by 50% at the 3 month scan.

Hoping for positive results for you too x
