Hi all,im starting treatment next week (Folfiri/Cetuximab),im going to have a Hickman line fitted, how did you find it, if you had treatment this way, i had a tumour removed from my bowel last year, and it kicked small spots to 1lung ,but recent scan showed they got a little bigger, so hence starting treatment, any advice would be helpful, hoping everyone is doing alright with their treatments & appointments, Thank-you x
Hi nan-nan, welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. I have not had chemo myself, but hopefully someone else here will be along soon to share their experience with you. x
Hi nan nan. I had chemo for a 6cm tumour and malignant fluid in one lung. I found it ok. The first one i just felt tired for about 5 days after but was a little more unwell after the other 3. Upset tummy and tirednesd for a week. I found it difficult to drink because everything tasted strange but fizzy drinks seem to be the easiest to get down. It was not as bad as i was expecting! I also got an excellent result, the tumour had shrunk significantly and no fluid. I know it is daunting but well worth it and the best chance we have. Good luck and keep posting for support xxx
Hi Fay77,Ty for you reply,i go this coming week to have my line fitted, it is daunting i know, just knowing what it involves, hopefully i get on ok with a line, be a lot better from what ive read ,about people having injections in their arms, some have found it painful,im pleased you are having positive results, well done, i will keep posting about my journey, along this road, like everyone else on this site, its so helpful in a lot of ways, as we all need guidance in 1 way or another, and there are some lovely people here, i wish you luck for the future, keep safe xx
Hi nan nan. I was not offered a line and had the chemo into a vein in my hand. I went into it with no knowledge of what was going to happen deliberately i found it easier to cope with this way. I've just put myself into my teams hands and know they are doing the best for me. Some people want to know everything but i just prefer to not know! All the best of luck for your treatment xx
Hi Fay ,i didnt get the choice as to what i was having,i was given a leaflet explaing about the Hickman line, and it looks daunting, but ,as you say we are in the teams hands, and they know what is best for us, i wish you All the best and Good Luck with your treatment also, Take care & keep safe xx
